A LITTLE BACKGROUND

A world between Athens and Paris

Born in Athens in 1935, Alekos Fassianos died in 2022. He trained under Yannis Moralis before studying lithography in Paris from 1960 to 1963. His career developed between Greece and France.

Cyclists, distinctive profiles and windswept hair became familiar figures in his work. His bold colours and free-flowing drawing bring ancient vase painting into dialogue with Byzantine traditions and folk art.

His work extended beyond painting: prints, illustrated books, theatre sets, furniture and lighting carried his imaginative world into everyday life. In 1985, the Château de Chenonceau hosted a retrospective of his work.

In this selection, posters preserve the memory of exhibitions, while jewellery and sculpture invite a closer encounter with relief and light. Each format offers a different way of living with an image.
